One of our favorite downtown spots for tasty Mexican eats is opening a west side location. Red Mesa Group announced today that Red Mesa Mercado is debuting a second location in the Pasadena area, at 6001 Central Avenue in St. Pete. Construction is expected to begin in October, with an opening in 2024

The fast-casual Mexican concept dishes up incredible food inspired by the drive-by dining style unique to the streets of Southern California and Mexico – “places where secret recipes rich with flavors and the freshest ingredients get served up quick in a no-nonsense, take-out style,” the restaurant explains. This second location for Red Mesa Mercado is taking over the former site of Two Graces, which closed last summer.

The new Red Mesa Mercado will feature 250 seats and 80 parking spaces. There will also be a standalone, 20-person full liquor bar, a new addition for the concept. Red Mesa Group said they expect to more Mercado locations throughout Tampa Bay in the years to come.

Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and everything in between at Mercado

Red Mesa Mercado has become a cult favorite in St. Pete, beloved for hefty burritos, specialty street tacos, and overflowing bowls. The chorizo and green chile migas breakfast burrito is a particular favorite of I Love the Burg, stuffed with scrambled eggs, chorizo, cheddar jack cheese, mild green chiles, grilled peppers and onions, serrano chile, and crispy corn strips.

We don’t recommend eating the entire thing if you plan to exercise immediately after.

This second location for Red Mesa Mercado is expected to be similar to the first, offering “original family recipes with Cali-Mex and old-world Mexican flavors.”

“We try to build food destinations, and Mercado is—without a doubt—the concept we developed to be replicated,” said Chief Operating Officer Pete Veytia III. “We look forward to debuting a truly unique space that allows us to stay true to our roots while continuing to meet the community where they are with this concept.”

Stay tuned for more updates on this second Red Mesa Mercado location.
