Raincube Preps for Official Launch at St. Pete Eco-Village

Raincube Preps for Official Launch at St. Pete Eco-Village

Raincube will install its garden kit demonstration center at the St. Pete Eco-Village on Sunday, July 23. The new Raincube Pi computer will be plugged in and ready to go live.

The demonstration center will show residents and visitors firsthand how the Internet of Rain works. Those in attendance will learn how to collect their own rainwater and grow their own food, whether they have a large yard or live just shy of downtown.

Increase your rainwater supply by 1,000%

Currently, Raincube.io is open to early adopters — with a Kickstarter campaign set to launch soon. Raincube is a 275 gallon intermediate bulk container (IBC) tote wrapped in black plastic sheeting to protect it from UV rays. The creators note that the state of Florida receives over 50 inches of rain per year.

The modular containers allow owners to increase their rainwater supply by 1,000%, and the system is optimized for residential rainwater harvesting. A sensor at the top of the container, which is connected to a computer, measures how much rainwater has been collected. The containers themselves can be hooked up to sprinkler systems that can be controlled through Raincube’s irrigation app.

Raincube is a Burg born business

Raincube was founded in the Burg in 2016 and has since installed a prototype in Guatemala City. Learn more about the concept by following it on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube.
