Q the confetti: Dr. BBQ restaurant makes its EDGE District debut

The wait is finally over, Dr. BBQ has arrived in the Burg — and the menu is exactly the prescription the Sunshine City needs.

The two-floor restaurant is gorgeous, pure and simple. It’s not a BBQ joint, it’s a culinary experience. The rustic decor complements the cuisine — and the vibrant cocktail menu.

Why vibrant? Start with the Backyard Margarita. It’s tequila and triple sec Mountain Dew, garnished with a Slim Jim and a Flaming Hot Cheeto.

The cushy farmhouse theme leads to a separate bar with an outdoor patio overlooking Tropicana Field. The mixologist at the helm? A bartending veteran who cut his teeth at the Birch and Vine.

Enough small talk. Lets get down to business and talk about the menu.

The concept from BBQ Hall of Fame inductee Ray Lampe is anything but ordinary. The Korean influenced Go-Chu-Jang sticky ribs are delectable. The Kimchi fries that come with it are kindling for a flavorful fire.

Want to enjoy a tropical Christmas morning? Dig into the country ham with spit-roasted pineapples.

There’s even something for gluten-free diners. The melty mac-a-phoni and cheese features plump hominy and tequila aged habanero with aged cheddar quasi and crunch Flaming Hot Cheetos.

Need something to snack on? Q the nachos. The tower of crispy pork rinds is covered in slow smoked certified Angus beef brisket, aged cheddar queso and arguably the best pico de gallo we have ever tasted.

Want something to remember your experience by? You can take home a Dr. BBQ tiki mug, or some sauce if you like. Cheers!

Where is Dr. BBQ located? Dr. BBQ is located at 1101 1st Avenue South in the EDGE District.
