As Clearwater Beach businesses bounce back from Hurricanes Helene and Milton, the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) is stepping up to support the community with a brand-new on-demand shuttle service. Dubbed The Grouper, this service offers travelers an affordable and convenient way to get to and from St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) and Clearwater Beach.
Unlike traditional ride-sharing options, which can surge to over $115 during peak hours, The Grouper provides a cost-effective alternative. Its dedicated shuttles accommodate up to nine passengers and have luggage and wheelchair access.
Pricing:
- $8 for solo travelers
- $20 for groups of 2-4 passengers
- $30 for groups of 5-8 passengers
An innovative public transit option ahead of Spring Break
Named after the iconic Gulf fish, The Grouper represents the region’s marine life and its mission to seamlessly transport groups between the airport and the beach.
Riders can hail a Grouper ride on-demand or reserve up to 2 months in advance by clicking on the “book now” button at the top of the page or by downloading the Grouper App on iPhone or Android.
The Grouper goes between the St. Pete Clearwater (PIE) airport and any location on Clearwater Beach, including the Sheraton and Marriot Sand Key resorts. All rides must start and end at either the PIE airport or Clearwater Beach (including the Sheraton and Marriot Sand Key). The Grouper does not provide service within Clearwater Beach or to other Tampa Bay locations.
Celebrating a new service to support the area’s economic recovery
To celebrate the launch, PSTA, alongside Pinellas County leaders, airport officials, and local business owners, will introduce The Grouper during a special event on Thursday, February 27. This new service not only enhances the visitor experience but also plays a crucial role in driving the area’s economic recovery.
