World Cup Central, a pop up by Prost Wurstgrill & Bierhouse and OpenHouse St. Pete, is committed to being the World Cup destination for the Cup action featuring all of the games live, with replays, in a social dining and drinking environment at the Edge District.

In addition, patrons can test their own skills challenging other guests to a FIFA tournament of their own on Playstation in the game room.

Prost Wurstgrill & Bierhouse is a pop-up concept founded by Michael Sponaugle of St. Pete local Buya Ramen. A modern interpretation of the beer and sausage gastropub concept, Prost made its first appearance during the 2014 World Cup on Miami’s restaurant alley in Brickell and was designed to promote personal interaction and camaraderie.

“The most important aspect of gathering around food and beer is social,” says Sponaugle. “Prost is first and foremost a place to socialize, the fact that we serve amazing beer and sausages is a plus. It’s a recurring theme for me, the social aspect…”

The success of round one in Miami was plenty to revive the pop-up in St. Petersburg and partner with John Jacobs, OpenHouse founder, for 2018.

The menu will revolve around the wurst, sausages, while local breweries and a few from World Cup favorites such as Spain and Germany will provide the beers. You will also find a full bar including a Stoli Gluten Free Moscow Mule on draft for that Russia vibe. With its own sausage machine in the kitchen, Prost will home-make custom wursts daily from the traditional pork to the duck chorizo and a chicken sausage with apple and gruyere. Bavarian pretzels, made by a German lady with German ingredients, one of the few authorized to handle in the United States, will also be offered.

The pop-up will come to a climactic end on the weekend of the semi-final and final of the tournament, July 14 and 15, with a block party co-hosted by Green Bench Brewery.
