Hang on to your hats, St. Pete. The Edge District is getting a new taqueria and we are here for it. Poppo’s Taqueria will be opening their seventh location at 1033 Central Avenue soon. While an official date has yet to be announced, we’ve been lurking the menu of this San Francisco Mission District inspired restaurant and we are HYPED.

The Florida based chain serves up dishes packed with fresh ingredients that also cater to dietary restrictions. They aim to use local and organic ingredients when possible.
Pick your medium: taco, burrito, big bowl, baby bowl, or quesadilla. Then go for your hot fillings. We’re eyeing that ancho chicken and the tempeh already. Finish it off with your cold fillings choosing from honey-lime salsa, jalapeño relish, guacamole, baby arugula, and more.

Who is Poppo?
The taqueria’s website explains that they bounced around multiple names for the San Francisco-style spot but they just didn’t hit the spot. Sitting at a family dinner one night, the idea hit everyone at the same time. Poppo is what the family behind the restaurant called their grandfather, Frank P. Harris. Even though he has since passed, his spirit lives on in Poppo’s Taqueria.
