Mangosteen is situated right next door to Boutique and Pacific Counter on the 600 Block of Central Avenue. Grilled Yakitori, dumplings, tacos, stirfry and more will be on the menu.
The restaurant will have an extensive sushi list, and will also be downtown’s new tropical cocktail bar.
It should open this August. Follow Mangosteen on Instagram for updates.

Sab Sushi Thai Fusion
Corner of 1st Ave N and 4th Street
Sab Cafe and Bistro on 2nd Avenue North has been a staple dining spot in the Sunshine City for years. It seems the team behind the concept have set their sites on a brand new location just across the street from the historic Open Air Post Office downtown.
A sign is up for Sab Sushi and Thai Fusion. Opening timelines, and a full menu are still TBA. But you can follow the restaurant on Instagram for updates.
Here’s a message from the team behind the concept:
“Welcome to Sab Sushi, the newest sushi restaurant in downtown St Pete! Take a glimpse of our restaurant development. Things start to take shape. We are working hard to get ready to open the door to our customers. Stay tuned for more updates.”
La Casa Tropical
350 1st Avenue North
A new Spanish restaurant/bar seems to be taking shape not far from the forthcoming Sab Sushi location. Called La Casa Tropical, the new concept promises tropical cocktails, ample tapas, and tons of music.
