Mis en Chic announces 70% off sale, Bodega to move into space this summer

Need some gorgeous furniture? Don’t we all. Mis en Chic in the EDGE District has just launched a major 70% off “now or never” sale ahead of its departure from Central Avenue. In the coming months, Bodega, the super popular cuban joint just down the block, will move into the chic 1933 space. The Tampa Bay Times broke the story back in 2019, and has a full breakdown of the building’s history on its website.

Bodega has outgrown its original location

Bodega owners Greg and Debbie Sayegh launched Bodega in the EDGE District several years ago. Since its arrival, the EDGE District has become the most popular area in all of St. Pete. Enigma, Intermezzo, The Independent, Green Bench, Red Mesa Mercado, Plant Love and more concepts have made it an irresistible destination.

Restaurants, breweries, live music venues, and brilliant murals have collectively transformed the stretch of Central Avenue into living, breathing art.

The growth isn’t surprising either. Visit Bodega on any given night and you’ll find a line that stretches as far as Dr. Fantastic’s arm. Have one taste of Bodega’s maduros, or take one sip of a refreshing Chi-Chi Rodriguez soda fresca and you’ll comprehend why.

Summer debut in the works

Bodega has easily outgrown its space — and now they’re moving down the block. The official move should be complete by summer 2020, but an official timeline is still TBD. No word on if Bodega will have to temporarily shut down during the move. I really hope it doesn’t have to, Bodega is 90% of this blogger’s diet.

Bodega is currently located at 1120 Central Avenue. Mis en Chic is located 1180 Central Avenue.

This isn’t the first time the restaurant has spread its wings. Bodega opened in the Seminole Heights neighborhood of Tampa in the summer of 2018.

New food hall, hotel opening in the EDGE

This move pairs nicely with a few other major announcements in the EDGE. A giant collective is set to open in the parking lot next to Mis en Chic and the Furnish Me Vintage space. The developers behind The Hall on Franklin will open a brand new food hall in the space, and a Moxy Hotel will rise, too.

What else do you have to look forward to in the EDGE District? The recent emergence of COPA has been wonderful, and soon Italy Bottega, a new Italian food and wine market, will open right next door at 1045 Central Avenue.
