This weekend, the 3rd Annual ¡MiGente Movida Festival! is taking over St. Pete and the surrounding area. Hosted by Mi Gente, Mi Pueblo, Movida 2022 takes place from Friday, October 7 – Sunday October 9 as part of Hispanic Heritage Month.

This year’s festivities include a Latinx art exhibit, music, dancing, food, and equity-focused conversations throughout the weekend. All events throughout the celebration are free to attend, including the massive Movida kickoff party on Friday, featuring music by La Lucha and DJ Papi Disco. The ethos behind Movida is a desire to amplify the Latinx narrative, while engaging the community and strengthening the Latinx equity movers network. The annual celebration brings the community together for visibility, feelings of belonging, and providing accessible resources that are fun and explorative.

“The real magic of Mi Gente is a combination of our shared experiences, cultural connection, and our unique differences that creates the beautiful tapestry of Latinx communities,” organizers said. “In unison, we raise our voices and reach for a community often left out of the American narrative. The keystone event, Mi Gente Movida allows all of us to not only listen to the current story unfolding of our Latinx friends, families, and neighbors, but to have the tools to write ourselves into the story the way we deserve.”

Friday, October 7 – Mi Gente Movida Kick-off Party!
