After years of anticipation, St. Pete is finally getting closer to having Topgolf in town. Our initial report in 2019 followed the popular spot’s announcement that it was planning to open up in the Burg in 2020, but a series of hurdles kept those plans in the rough for nearly three years. Now, the game is back on, as St. Pete Rising reported that ground broke today on Topgolf’s new facility at the Carillon Business Park in north St. Pete.

Topgolf is loved nationwide for its combination of food, drink, and multi-level golf games. While this location isn’t the first in Tampa Bay, the only currently existing one is a full 20+ miles from downtown St. Pete. Now, the Burg will have a golf haven of its own.

“Florida has always been important to Topgolf, as we have been connecting communities and creating moments that matter at five venues throughout the state for a number of years,” Topgolf said in 2019. “As we continue our bold and purposeful approach to growth, we are thrilled to extend our special blend of technology and entertainment to Lake Mary and St. Petersburg.”

Topgolf plans to hire more than 400 full- and part-time associates and expects to serve ~450,000 guests annually. Topgolf St. Pete will be located at between Ulmerton Road and Roosevelt Boulevard North near the TransAmerica building at 220 Carillon Park.

The facility will feature 102 hitting bays and plenty of competitive activities for those still chasing those green jacket dreams. There’s chipping challenges, a longest drive challenge, and even a chance to play a quick 9 from the high-tech pods.

Golfers don’t need to jockey for a spot at the driving range. Visitors can book their pod in advance online. They also offer summer golf academies for kids, if your little one is looking to perfect their form, or just enjoy the game.

Topgolf offers a deep list of food options, as well as wines, beers and cocktails. And seriously, you haven’t brunched until at Topgolf. The golfer’s paradise is known for its marinated steak tacos, chicken and waffle sliders and Tito’s Top Bloody Mary. Cheers.
