Listen! There will be 100 free live music performances this weekend in St. Petersburg

An acoustic guitar in the middle of the road

St. Pete may not have the same reputation as a music city like Nashville or Austin, but something really special is happening in the music scene here. Performers such as Betty Fox, Selwyn Birchwood, Dea and Saint, Geri X, and Infinite Third (Billy Mays III) have all worked passionately and exhaustively to create a sound for this region. November 1-3, Downtown St. Pete is celebrating its emerging local songwriters with a massive festival.

How? With 100 live performances over the course of three days downtown. In partnership with BMI, over 35 songwriters will perform over 100 free acoustic events while sharing the stories behind their biggest songs.

Some bigger names are popping up for the festivities, though these performances aren’t free. Ed Roland and Jesse Triplett of Collective Soul will perform at The Mahaffey Theater on November 1, along with The Warren Brothers. On November 2, Matisyahu will perform a live acoustic set at Jannus Live.

Regular performances begin on Friday, November 1 and run through Sunday, November 3. Here are the participating venues:

You can find a full schedule of performances on DTSP Songwriters Festival’s website.

Featured performers include Ella Jet, Brian Sutherland, Nate Allen, Sonia Leigh, Emily Turnage, Deb Ruby, Tim James, Jeff Coen, and Rebekah Pulley. DTSP Songwriters Festival has a full list of participating performers online.
