La Croisette brings Beverly’s back to St. Pete Beach with even more French pastries

La Croisette brings Beverly’s back to St. Pete Beach with even more French pastries

Pink exterior of a breakfast restaurant with the words "I Love St. Pete Beach" painted on the side

La Croisette is a new restaurant opening at 7401 Gulf Blvd. The restaurant soft opened on Saturday, May 29.

Beverly’s was a breakfast staple in St. Pete Beach for over 25 years. The bright pink facade, and tropical bird mural was always an inviting sight for tourists and residents alike looking for a cup of coffee, a tall stack of pancakes, and maybe a spot to escape the sun for a few minutes. Beverly Pedaggi opened the restaurant back in 1989, and the restaurant stayed open 364 days a year, every year, until its closure. Fortunately for us, that closure is temporary.

Bringing back La Croisette on St. Pete Beach

Just over a year ago Mickael and Natalie Roche fell in love with St. Pete Beach. The couple are from France, but after a quick trip to the best beach in America they knew they found a new home.

Mickael and Natalie visited Beverly’s when they were in town and after seeing the enthusiastic crowds lining up for brunch decided to continue on the Beverly’s tradition. They took ownership of the space back in 2020, and have worked tirelessly to revive the interior and exterior along Corey Avenue.

For fans of the original Berverly’s, you’ll be happy to find out the menu will remain the same as you remember. Mickael and Natalie will add a few French pastries, and fresh baked French bread available to-go, and dine-in as well. Yes, that means Beverly’s famous pancakes are making a comeback.

The couple is working hard to get the interior ready for diners. An official opening date is still TBA, but Mickael believes the restaurant could open as soon as mid-April.

One of the most notable additions to the space is the brand new “I Love St. Pete Beach” mural created by the Vitale Bros on the side of the building.

Once open, La Croisette could seat ~70 diners. The space will also include outdoor patio dining.

Preserving a piece of St. Pete Beach history

Mickael and Natalie also uncovered a painting depicting the restaurant in its glory on St. Pete Beach before Beverly Pedaggi has taken over.

“We found an old painting in the restaurant that was commissioned by the first French owner of the Croisette before Beverly, more than 40 years ago,” wrote the owners in an post on Instagram. “He is the one who gave his name to the breakfast restaurant “La Croisette”.

The first owner was originally from the south of France, from Cannes where the famous film festival takes place. This iconic place where the Carlton Hotel and the city of Cannes are located is called “La Croisette”. The painting is now prominently displayed at the front of the restaurant. .
