Get your buzzer finger ready – a St. Pete local is going to be on Jeopardy! next Monday. Karim Oliver, a 2015 Shorecrest graduate and St. Petersburg resident, taped an episode of Jeopardy that will air on Monday, May 9. The episode can be viewed on CBS at 7:30 following Wheel of Fortune.
The announcement was shared by the St. Pete chapter of First Tee, a program in which Oliver participated as a child starting at five years old. He went on to become a volunteer youth mentor in the program and is now also a paid employee of the program.

The news was met with excitement and well wishes from members of the community, including former St. Pete First Lady Kerry Kriseman.
“We’ve known Karim for many years,” she said on Facebook. “He was a year ahead of Jordan at Shorecrest. Samuel has enjoyed golf with him and other First Tee golfers. Karim is also politically engaged, having volunteered on Rick’s 2017 mayoral campaign. We’re looking forward to cheering Karim next Monday. Thanks for representing St. Pete so well!”
While the episode has already been taped, the results are kept secret until air time. Oliver was, however, able to snap a picture with Jeopardy host Mayim Bialik.
First Tee St. Petersburg is part of a large, national program teaching children life skills through the game of golf.
“We enable kids to build the strength of character that empowers them through a lifetime of new challenges,” their website says. “By seamlessly integrating the game of golf with life skills curriculum, we create learning experiences that build inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience that kids carry to everything they do.”
