Hidden Gems of the Burg II

Hidden Gems of the Burg II

There some very well kept foodie secrets in the Burg. We're here to connect you to the hidden gems well worth the try. Baseline Bistro, located just off of 4th Street on 47th Avenue Northeast within the St. Pete Racquet Club, is one of those spots. The restaurant is passionate about good coffee and healthy bites. Co-owners Raphael Perrier, owner of Kahwa Coffee, and Kristian Jankovic have infused the restaurant with soul.

Visitors can enjoy an espresso/coffee bar in the morning and a full liquor bar in the evening. Baseline Bistro manages to find the balance between upscale pizzeria and laid back burger joint. This is to say, those with a sophisticated palate and those looking to indulge in some comfort food can find dishes to suit their preferences on the same menu.

Beyond just food, the true mark of a gem is how they incorporate the character of their community into their space. Baseline Bistro hosts a variety of events, including their popular Blues Jam, on weekly basis. The mix of refined café and Burg blues venue make it a comfortable restaurant that is date night ready, and a spot the whole family can enjoy.

The music is the perfect companion for their dishes, which taste as though they were pulled fresh from your grandmother's oven. Their lasagna satiates the senses with layer upon layer of buttery pasta and melty cheese. The margherita pizza is comfort incarnate. For the brunch crowd, Baseline's Paris prosciutto benedict is a divine addition to the meal —  a smoked ham croissant benedict with baby spiniach and hollandaise. Due to the fact that our sweet tooth guides most of our dining decisions, we also highly recommend indulging in a strawberry nutella crepe.

The restaurant is still a fresh face in the Burg — opening just a little over a year ago. It didn't take long for us to become endeared to their menu and atmosphere. There's nothing finer than waking up with a chocolate croissant and iced cappucino. If you're looking for a quick lunch, the prosciutto panini and veggie quiche are always clutch. If you need to grab something to go, Baseline Bistro also offers an extensive to go menu. The restaurant serves lunch Monday through Friday, from 11am to 1pm, and dinner Monday through Saturday, from 5pm to 10pm. Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday, from 9am to 2pm.
