A crispy and flavorful afternoon is coming to the Skyway Marina District this weekend. The inaugural Fried Chicken & Seafood Festival is taking over the Grand Villas on Saturday, February 11, from 2-6 pm, a free and family-friendly culinary celebration.

Hosted by Saturday Shoppes and the Skyway Marina District, the festival doubles as a massive local vendor market, with more than 100 area makers, artists, nurseries, shops and more. Fried Chicken & Seafood Fest will be hosted in the parking lot of the Grand Villas at 3600 34th Street South, and parking is free.

Of course, the highlight of the festival will be the hot, crispy and juicy plates of food. Dozens of food trucks, chefs, and restaurants will be on hand showcasing a wide variety of delicious classics and tasty twists alike. Saturday Shoppes is billing the line up as “the best fried foods on this side of the state!”

The food festival and market will also feature live music, line dancing, a teen market, bounce houses, and even a kids area. There will be interactive arts and crafts stations, as well. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair, relax, and enjoy the free entertainment while they eat, drink and browse.

The goal of the event has always been to create economic development opportunities for emerging businesses through these fast growing monthly markets. Edwards has also founded the Saturday Shoppes Academy to provide business coaching, business etiquette, resources, marketing, and licensure that would allow hobby vendors to grow their business and income.
