Every time we turn a corner it seems as though there is another reason to love the ‘Burg. With our great waterfront and all that there is to do here, it seems like it just can’t get any better. But there are ways into our hearts, St. Pete, and you always know just how to make us swoon. Two new establishments are under construction and should be ready for us to relax with a cold one very soon. 

The Amsterdam, a European inspired bar that will offer "bier, vins, and vibe," is expected to open in September, according to owners John and Zoie. Located on Central Ave. and 10th Street, this up-and-coming bar sounds like it will be a great place to relax. They’ve just finished construction on the patio, “with comfy banquette seating and luscious greenery, the patio is the place to listen to live music from our wonderfully, talented local musicians,” according to their Facebook page. Craft and import beers will be offered as well as wine, mimosas, bellinis and sangria.

The Amsterdam is a dog-friendly establishment and welcomes all well-mannered dogs. Treats and Bowser Brown Ale Beer for dogs will be available. When they open, make sure to check out their hand-crafted communal tables made from a monkeypod tree by a local sculptor. This new place sounds like it’s full of quirks!  

The Amsterdam will be located at 1049 Central Ave.  

The Getaway, out on Gandy Blvd, is under construction and should be ready for business sometime soon as part restaurant, bar and water-activity rental spot. Not only will they offer food as well as drinks at the Tiki Bar, they will have boat slips for those that wish to come by bay as well as kayaking and paddleboard rentals.

They are hoping to have opening day news sometime this summer. If it turns out to be anything like we’re expecting, I’m sure no one will want to make a “quick getaway” once they’ve stepped foot into this new St. Pete restaurant and bar.

The Getaway will be located at 13090 Gandy Blvd.
