Folkfest St. Pete Pushes Art, Music & Food To The Edge

Folkfest St. Pete Pushes Art, Music & Food To The Edge

Folkfest St. Pete is this weekend, beginning with a Friday night "Food For Folks" gathering in the EDGE District. This will be the Burg's longest community dining table and is in celebration of National Food Day. You can reserve your spot at the table today by visiting the EDGE District's website. The event runs from 6-9pm at Green Bench Brewing, 1133 Baum Ave.

Folkfest St. Pete is in support of Creative Clay. Creative Clay aids individuals with developmental, physical and emotional disabilities. The organization also provides programs for those living in healthcare settings, children and veterans.

The devoted educators and volunteers at Creative Clay have created an environment that nurtures the artistic inclinations of their students. The annual Folkfest event benefits the arts center through exceptional music acts, local market food and folk art.

Creative Clay will display original works by students with all works on display for sale. Select items will be offered as prizes. We were personally blown away by the hand-painted instruments.

This year, the festival brings two music acts that will make you tap your heels through gravel.

Humming House has the lyrical resonance of The Devil Makes Three and Kurt Vile and the juniper grace of She & Him and The Milk Carton Kids. They'll close out Saturday night, October 25.

von Grey sounds like the perfect mix of Judee Sils at her most irreverent and the Punch Brothers at their bluegrass finest. They've captivated fans on Letterman and Conan and will headline Folkfest on Sunday, October 26.

There will be plenty to enjoy on the side. A craft beer garden, sponsored by New Belgium, Cigar City and JJ Taylor will be right next to the stage so you don't have to choose between crowd surfing and a famous Tampa Bay brew.

You will not go hungry either. Tree Dog Roots & Salsa, Maized & CORNfused and Ferg's, along with Kahwa Coffee will be distributing fest fuel. Folkfest sponsors Bodega Latin Market and Ricky P's will be open for business as well.

Each year, Folkfest attracts 10,000 people. The event is free to attend but to help cover the cost of Folkfest it's asked that those in attendance make a donation of $5. Vendor booths will line the 1100 block of Central Avenue.

Folkfest St. Pete is all weekend. 10am-9pm on Saturday, October 25, and 10am-5pm on Sunday, October 26. For full lineup of music, food vendors, family activities and artists visit their official website.
