At I Love the Burg we are all about celebrating local residents thriving off of an entrepreneurial spirit. That spirit is evident in every square inch of Gayoso Plastic Surgery’s new facility in the MLK Business District. The expansion allows Gayoso to continue to offer coolscupting and cooltone programs, while bringing surgical procedures in house.
As with most St. Pete businesses, Gayoso harbors a love of local art. The practice plans to use their space as a rotating gallery of artwork. Gayoso’s first artist will be Sheila Olsen, a local artist from St Pete Beach. Some may recognize her art from Season 2 of Dead to Me.
An art gallery on the inside
Prolific muralist and arts advocate Chad Mize did the signage for Gayoso’s building, so a love of local is quite literally ingrained in the business’s DNA.
As Gayoso’s clientele grew, they needed additional space, and their former location did not allow for expansion.
Dr. Gayoso wanted to bring his surgical procedures ‘in house’, with a fully accredited operating room suite and state of the art equipment. Now, courtesy of the sleek new space on MLK, they can better serve their patients.
Gayoso’s long time tenant, Gina’s Art and Science of Skincare, also made the move. With maskne on the rise, and the summer sun batting its lashes, it might be a good time to look into the science of skincare.
Experience the science of skincare
Gina has worked with Dr. Gayoso for 17 years and provides all aspects of skincare and permanent make-up. Their Physician Assistant, Jessica McCarry also moved her practice to Gayoso’s new location, offering non-surgical procedures such as Botox and filler, as well as an array of laser treatments.
There are 11 full time employees working at the facility, and more hires are expected for the surgical practice.
“We like to think that we are leaders in the area of cosmetic surgery, skin care and non-surgical treatments,” wrote Amy Thomas in an email to I Love the Burg. “Our expansion allowed for the addition of the newest technology in the Coolsculpting family, called CoolTone.”
CoolTone offers toning of abdomen, buttocks and thighs using Magnetic Muscle Stimulation to help tone these areas.
How Gayoso supports St. Pete
Beyond their work, the Gayoso team are advocates in the Sunshine City.
Dr. Gayoso continues to be a supporter of My Hope Chest, a local charity offering breast cancer reconstruction for the uninsured. He remains committed to his specialty and recently resumed the position of Chief of Plastic Surgery at Bayfront Health St Petersburg, when the former chief moved out of state.
Live like a local. Here’s where Dr. Gayoso loves to visit in St. Petersburg.
Dr. Gayoso and his entire staff are huge foodies. They are thrilled that their new office is located close to some staff favorites, including Casita Taqueria, Hook’s Sushi and of course amazing dessert places, including Swah-Rey.
His favorite coffee is from Black Crow, which is served in the office. With all of the fabulous eateries in the area, Dr. Gayoso keeps active by going to CrossFit9, a local gym that kicks his butt on a regular basis.
