St. Pete’s Poet Laureate Presents Free Seminar

On Wednesday, September 20, 6 to 8 PM, Gloria Muñoz, St. Petersburg’s poet laureate, will share what it’s like to be a poet laureate and may even inspire you to write your own poetry. Muñoz is also a teacher, lyricist, and all-around multi-genre writer who has garnered an impressive roster of local and national grants, fellowships, and awards. Her book of poetry, Danzirly (pronounced “Dawn’s Early”), which explores the American dream from a Latinx perspective, won the Academy of American Poets’ 2019 Ambroggio Prize, and the Gold Medal Florida Book Award.

Muñoz’s presentation is part of the Beach Drive Forums, a series of conversations on thought-provoking topics, offered by First Presbyterian Church, 701 Beach Dr NE. Intriguing guest speakers and subject matter are featured in these programs which are free and open to the public.
