The Dairy Kurl, Tampa Bay’s ultimate old school ice cream shop

The Dairy Kurl, Tampa Bay’s ultimate old school ice cream shop

The Dairy Kurl has been scooping and swirling ice cream in the Tampa Bay region since 1953. The quaint location, with a bright red facade and an all-too inviting roadside sign, is some kind of sugary mirage The ice cream shop is advertised as the oldest institution of its kind in Clearwater.

Craving Dole Whip? This cute ice cream shop has multiple flavors to satisfy your hot weather cravings. They also serve up old school floats, chocolate malts, extra thick milkshakes, cake and waffle cones, and their famous “Kandy Kurl.”

This hub also serves up chocolate dipped, and cherry dipped cones, myriad sweet candy toppings, giant banana splits, and super colorful shaved ice.

Current owner Morton Myers wrote this upon the concept’s 1-year anniversary of reopening:

“My name is Morton Myers and I was born and raised in Clearwater. I grew up next to some of the previous owners and fell in love the little red & white ice cream shop known as the Dairy Kurl. My wife and I both graduated from Clearwater High School and we have 4 young beautiful children. So, we are local and we understand what making good memories means to families and we share the love for small businesses and for our small business. We are here for the long haul and we plan to keep the legacy of Dairy Kurl going for years to come and forever if we can help it.”
