Massive Fright Night Halloween event set for Coastal Creative

Massive Fright Night Halloween event set for Coastal Creative

Coastal Creative in the Grand Central Arts District has become one of our favorite spaces for funky, funny and even freaky events. From the St. Pete Brew Fest to the Weird Florida Art Show, they’ve been on a roll all year. This month, the fun continues with a jam-packed October lineup.

The spooky star of Coastal’s fall lineup is the Fright Night Halloween Art Show on Saturday, October 30th. The Hallow’s Eve-themed art show, curated by Stephanie Agudelo, will feature showcases from more than 80 area artists celebrating everything frightening. For more entertainment, Molly the fire-wielding aerialist will offer “a spooky fire performance.”

Guests are encouraged to wear costumes and join the evening’s costume contest. $8 are tickets are available online now, with only a limited quantity being sold at the door, so hop on while there’s still time.

More exciting events are taking place at Coastal Creative all month long ahead of the Fright Night Halloween Art Show.

Don’t Tell Comedy Show, October 9th – You can ask, but they won’t tell. The mysterious traveling comedy show is coming to St. Pete for the very first time, featuring laughs with a twist: no one knows where the show will be, or who will be performing. Those who purchase tickets will receive an email at noon on the day of the show letting them know the location of the show.

PurgARTory, October 16th – Billed as an evening of dark art and a creepy burlesque show, this gallery and performance pop-up is an experiential event celebrating all things unsettling and undead. In addition to artwork, there will be shows from eight different performers throughout the night, including belly dancing, body painting and pole artistry. Tickets range from $15-25.

Fashion Forward, October 22nd – The Fashion Forward show will have several performances through the night, all of them with an emphasis on sustainability. The main event is a runway walk featuring looks styled exclusively from upcycled and thrifted goods. The event is meant “to inspire environmental habits in St. Pete with an edgy evening of the arts.” Tickets for Fashion Forward are only $5.

Comedy Competition, October 23rd – Hosted by St. Pete-based comedian Dan Bakst, his comedy competitions have become underground favorites in the ‘Burg. This month’s night of laughs features 10 professional and local comedians who will compete for a chance to win $250. The winner will be chosen by the audience and Coastal Creative staff. Tickets are only $5, and drinks are available from the Coastal bar.

Ales for ALS Brewfest, October 30th – The beer-driven party actually takes place at Big Storm Brewing in Clearwater, and with Coastal Creative involved, we know it will be a good time. And best of all, the event is part of a nationwide effort to raise funds and awareness for the ALS Therapy Development Institute. More than 15 local breweries will be on hand showcasing beers made exclusively for Ales for ALS. Tickets are $40.

We’ll be seeing you this month for local arts, laughs, shows and scares at Coastal Creative.
