City Unveils New Plans to Redevelop 34th Street

I think we can all agree that the infamous 34th Street South/US-19 could use a little makeover. Plans to redevelop this oft-traveled stretch of road have been in the making for a while now, with progress being made little by little (updates on progress as of March 20, 2013 can be found here), but it looks like the City of St. Pete is getting down to business like never before- and this time they’ve got their sights set on the 34th Street corridor, running from 20th Avenue South to 54th Avenue South.

In their presentation, the City of St. Pete’s mission is “to produce a plan that will create opportunities for development desired by the community and facilitate investment within the corridor.” Sounds great, right? But what does it mean, exactly? It means that they want the best things possible for this area, and they want your input!

A meeting regarding this vision for redevelopment will take place on April 23, 2013 at 7:00pm at the SPC Allstate Center (3200 34th St S.) Public interest is “very important to this planning process,” so get out there and give them a piece of your mind! What would you like to see on the 34th Street Corridor?
