Barber, a popular actress and comedian, initially gained fame for her celebrity impressions online, having become one of the most-followed comics on social media with more than nine million followers on Instagram alone. Her parodies have grown into a full-fledged portfolio of performances, as she has headlined comedy specials and is currently shooting her new Netflix comedy series Wellmania, a comedic drama based on the novel Wellmania: Misadventures in the Search for Wellness.
Hailed as the “Australian Queen of Comedy”, Barber released her best-selling book Challenge Accepted in 2019, and she was also seen on the 2019 Showtime Special of the same name. In 2020, she won the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards for Favorite Comedy Performer of the Decade, and in 2021 she earned a Webby Special Achievement award.
First named the ‘Funniest Lady on Instagram’ in 2017, Barber was also included in Variety Magazine ‘Variety’s 10 Comics to Watch’ in 2019, and she hosted the 5th Annual Daily Front Row Awards at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

Of course, it’s more than just hilarity and poignant insight that the Aussie has brought to the global stage. In 2020, Barber helped raise more than $51 million to help her country following the devastating wildfires that ravaged Australia in the summer of 2019-20, a record-breaking fundraiser to support the Rural Fire Service (RFS) and Brigades Donation Fund.
Tickets to see Celeste Barber’s show at the Duke Energy Center for the Arts – Mahaffey Theater are available now through Ticketmaster, with prices starting at $34. Learn about The Mahaffey and see other acts coming to the historic theater at themahaffey.com.
