Burg Bits: Tropic Airways Lands at Albert Whitted, The Brass Tap Opens…

Tropic Airways soars through St. Pete and Ft. Lauderdale

Tropic Ocean Airways was founded in 2009 by Navy fighter pilot Rob Ceravolo, and run by U.S. Veterans. The Florida-based air service recently launched twice weekly flights from Albert Whitted Airport (SPG) in the Burg to Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL).

The service runs Mondays and Fridays with flights departing St. Pete at 8:24am and 5:54pm. Flights takes between an hour and an hour and a half and cost $99.50 one way.

Tropic Airways brings its new Wheeled Cessna Caravan Ex aircraft to the Albert Whitted runway. The Wheeled Cessna holds up to 9 passengers and two crew members and features executive style seating. The new addition to St. Pete allows local residents to experience more of this exceptional state conveniently. Vela rises in the Burg

St. Pete developments continue to populate the newswire. Vela is the latest spot to join the roster. Vela will feature 20 residences, a state-of-the-art fitness center, a 7th-floor recreation center, two covered parking spaces per unit and outdoor living balconies. The buidlings 'U' shaped design will feature 18 corner units. Apartment sizes range from 1,100 sq. ft. to 1,896 sq. ft.

The Brass Tap opens at Tyrone Mall

The Brass Tap opened its doors Super Bowl weekend at Tyrone Square Mall. The bar/restaurant features a dog friendly patio, 70 beers on tap (300 different varieties), an expansive food menu and weekend brunch specials ($30 – brunch for two and bottomless mimosas).  Their weekend menu includes Guinness bacon waffles, bacon n' egg pizza and sausage and egg burritos.

Though, The Brass Tap also features several healthier options including a quinoa power bowl, a deconstructed burger, lettuce wraps and more. They'll be pouring some of your favorite local brews, too. 3 Daughters, St. Pete Brewing Company, Green Bench and Cycle are all available at The Brass Tap.

The upscale beer/wine bar is located at the Tyrone Square Mall, 2438 Tyrone Square.
