This Saturday The Amsterdam hosts FUNK Cancer, a fundraiser for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. The event begins at 2pm and will go until 2am.

Wristbands are only $5. The wristbands allow you acces to music, local art, exceptional beer, food and raffles. The event is pet friendly so you can bring the whole family out in support of this amazing cause.

Artists Stephen Barry, Jerry Cahill and Steven Belisle will be creating live images for the crowd. The live painting created that night will be just one of the awesome raffle prizes.

What is the National Breast Cancer Foundation? The NBCF aids women all over the country by providing free mammograms to this in need. The foundation educates women about  breast cancer and offers an incredible support team.

Kari Hyde created the event in partnership with John Cullen and Zoie Torres. Kari was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2014. After 5 months of treatment Kari was able to beat cancer. This event is Kari's way of sharing the love and support she received during that difficult time while helping those women most in need. 

Kari writes, "This is an event dedicated to life and loving it with the FUNK CANCER Attitude."

FUNK Cancer takes place Saturday, October 4, and begins at 2pm. The Amsterdam, located at 1049 Central Ave. If you can't attend the event we do encourage you to donate to Kari's fundraiser.

1-of-1 Customs Expands

1-of-1 Customs, owned by a pair of artists who hand paint their aesthetic on a multitude of items, have expanded beyond their 1st Ave N location in the Burg.

The artists will paint any image on any surface for all customers. You supply the canvas, they actualize the vision. The artists are best known for the unique shoes and purses they've developed. The designs they display in their new storefront window may be enough to entice mall patrons to avoid the normative chain stores. Behind the glass are rows of shoes covered in Skyway Bridge, Tampa Bay Rays, Chicago Bulls and sunset insignias

1-of-1 Customs is now officially open in the Westfield Countryside Mall located at 27001 US Highway 19 N, #1039 in Clearwater. We couldn't be prouder to see the ambition and talent of local St. Pete artists branching beyond our city's limits.

At Cost Bar Grand Opening

There's a new bar coming to the Burg. Tonight, St. Pete's first members-only bar/social lounge opens. At Cost Bar will feature craft beers, high end wines, coffee and champagnes.

This new bar concept is more like a club collecting the most ambitious and eclectic minds in St. Pete. All it costs you is the introductory price of $5 for the night. The first 100 prospective members to sign up will get half off the standard monthly membership cost which is $20 for women and $40 for men.
