The Grand Central District in St. Petersburg is a food, art, and fun hub. Haslam’s Book Store has long been a go-to spot for us. Artpool is just loaded with funky vintage finds and provides a space for local creators to display their works. Love Food Central is freaking perfection. Their cookies are what we crave daily. One new spot is set to join the eclectic roster: Calabash. Another gem, World Thrift, has been keep its official location a secret.
Calabash Jamaican Eatery is set to open soon next to the newly opened Pinball Museum and Arcade at 2319 Central Avenue. An official opening date and menu are still TBA.

Fingers are crossed the restaurant serves up some tasty fried plantains with Ackee and Saltfish. Ackee is Jamaica’s national fruit. Saltfish is kind of like dried cod. The dish blends sweet and savory perfectly and we have a hankering for it right now.
