‘Burg Bits: BellaBrava to Open New Resto & A New Exhibit at History Museum!

BellaBrava is Expanding!

The partners of BellaBrava: New World Trattoria have announced that they have reached a deal to open a new restaurant-tavern on Beach Drive. The fresh face on the sunny Beach Drive strip isn’t scheduled to arrive until early 2015 and will be moving into Bruce Watters Jewelers location, 224 Beach Drive NE. The local jewelers will be moving to a new storefront in the near future.

Initial plans detail a state-of-the-art 4,000 sq. ft. construction with plenty of outdoor seating so ‘Burgers can enjoy those glacial blue skies while they drink and dine. The menu will consist of simple American Fare meant to please the eclectic and dynamic palates of families and St. Pete at large with dishes that are priced to fill you up on a slim budget.

Official construction is set to begin in April. The tavern will harbor a mammoth selection of draught beer, wines by the bottle and glass and a full bar. “BellaBrava has been a long-term tenant of ours,” said Bill Bond of Beach Drive Associates, “We look forward to building on that relationship with a new building and a long-term partnership with their sister restaurant.”

American Soldier: A Photographic Tribute Opens at Museum of History

The new American Soldier: A Photographic Tribute exhibit held its official ribbon cutting ceremony this morning.  The St. Petersburg Museum of History carefully selected 116 photos between the Civil War, Spanish American War, Boxer Rebellion, World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War, Afghanistan, and to the streets of Baghdad. that depict the camraderie, heroism, family, humor and struggle that exist amongst soldiers in times of war and peace. As Cyma Rubin, curator, stated, "this is not a blood and guts exhibit," and in no way is meant to sensationalize the strife endured by young men and women serving this country.  It is an inkwell narrative of their bravery and their sacrafice.

Rubin hopes that exquisite exhibitions such as this with rare artifacts and images will help smaller museums move foward and reach a larger audience.  Mayor Kriseman was unable to attend but his proclamation was read aloud and made March 18 American Soldier Appreciation Day in the ‘Burg. The St. Pete Museum of History is located at 335 2nd Ave NE.
