Burg Bits: Baytenders on 4th Street, Deep Blue in the EDGE

Burg Bits: Baytenders on 4th Street, Deep Blue in the EDGE

In St. Pete, food is king. Residents of the Sunshine City now enjoy a bounty of options when they’re looking for somewhere to brunch, lunch and/or dinner. The city is all about moderation, of course. To complement our abundance of culinary hotspots new and innovative fitness centers continue to pop up.

Oyster Bar on 4th Street

We’ve long speculated on what might be replacing Champ’s BBQ on 4th Street. While we will sincerely miss their baked apples and hearty ribs, the idea of a solid oyster bar on 4th Street is beyond appealing.

The city has gone shuck-wild thanks to the addition of Empire Oyster at Intermezzo in the EDGE District. Couple that with the academic knowledge and unrivaled appreciation the Oyster Bar on Central Avenue has instilled in the local culinary community and you have a city craving more options beyond downtown.

Baytenders Oyster Bar and Steamers is set to open soon at 4400 4th Street North. The restaurant noted that they hope to be open within the next two month. Subscribe to their newsletter and follow them on Facebook for official updates on an opening.

Deep Blue Fitness whips EDGE District into shape

Deep Blue Fitness, 1123 1st Avenue North, is the latest in a series of gyms to offer a place for visitors to stay active. The CrossFit and personal training facility offers all inclusive memberships — crossfit, high-intensity interval training boot camp, recovery yoga, bi-weekly fitness specific specialty classes.

The staff at Deep Blue collectively has 30 fitness specific certifications and each one helps to contribute to their versatile training program. Deep Blue is open to all residents who want to get in shape. Owners Austin and Sarah Hickey want to create a space built on positivity and support. All ages and experience levels are welcome.

The Rogue Equipped Affiliate‘s arrival in the EDGE is the result of 4 years of traveling and training along the East coast. Sarah Hickey is a St. Pete native, so a return to the Sunshine City after spending some time in Asheville, which is often likened to the Burg, is a perfect fit.
