Allelo opens this weekend in former Annata, Alto Mare space on Beach Drive

Allelo opens this weekend in former Annata, Alto Mare space on Beach Drive

Big news on Beach Drive was dropped a few weeks ago, as the announcement we had been expecting has finally come: downtown favorites Annata and Alto Mare are no more. In their combined place, welcome Allelo to St. Petersburg, a new venture from the owners and operators of 400 Beach Seafood and Tap House. The restaurant opens on Saturday, September 17, and already reservations are booked for the entirety of its opening weekend.

The local owners, who purchased the property at 300 Beach Drive from Annata and Alto Mare’s previous owners, have partnered with Volet Hospitality Group to create this concept. They told the Tampa Bay Times the new restaurant will have a strong Mediterranean influence, while also incorporating old favorites from Annata and Alto Mare.

The restaurant describes itself as a “neighborhood spot for small plates, good times and lots of wine!” While opening weekend is booked up, tables are available beginning Tuesday, September 20 (as of publishing time). Allelo will be open Tuesday-Saturday from 5-10 pm every week.

Renderings of the new space have been shared on Allelo’s Instagram (which was previously the Annata page) as well as its Google business page, where we can get a glimpse of what the team has done inside. The new bar and restaurant has combined the Annata and Alto Mare spaces, making one large restaurant instead of the two smaller ones.

Ownership said in their announcement on Instagram that “Allelo’s meaning is rooted in the word Allelomimesis, which is all about the phenomenon of gathering together, and we are confident this captures the history and essence of the location.”
