11 Chicks Yummy Creations is hard to miss. The quaint space at 199 Dr. MLK Jr. Street North features a brilliant parrot mural on its exterior. While it may be small, this Venezuelan food hub bursts with the most flavor in the Sunshine City. The locally owned and operated spot makes the most addicting arepas you’ve ever tasted.
The restaurant had temporarily closed back in September, but much to the delight of this blogger, the concept officially reopened on October 15.
These are my personal 3 favorite arepas you need to try when you visit:
Paisa: plain arepa, carne asada, Bacon, fried egg, sweet plantain, chorizo, black beans, avocado, cilantro aioli and special combination of Venezuelan cheese
Pork Belly: pork belly, grilled cheese, tomatoes, avocado, chimichurri sauce
Jerk Chicken: grilled jerk chicken, sweet plantains, avocado, homemade spicy sauce and special combination of Venezuelan cheese
11 Chicks has operated around the Tampa Bay region since about 2014, but they first landed in their Dr. MLK Jr. Street spot back in 2017. Their reopening sparked joy for many local diners who flocked to its open door to enjoy the best arepas in town.
It’s so important to show all of our local restaurants some love. You can keep up with 11 Chicks by following the restaurant on Instagram and Facebook.
