Since 2014, 11 Chicks has been delighting residents of St. Pete with authentic Venezuelan cuisine. Their menu celebrates a rich culinary tradition with offerings like arepas, tequeños, empanadas, and the iconic pabellón criollo, Venezuela’s national dish that blends influences from Native Americans, Spanish, and African cultures.
The current location at 195 MLK Jr. St. N. is quaint, clean, and functional. However, owner Damary Schleede is ready to expand. In about two months, pending permits, 11 Chicks will move to a new spot at 324 MLK Jr. St. N. Though only a few blocks away, the new location promises additional benefits.

More space means more menu and drink options
The new location will double in size to 1,680 square feet compared to the current one. Along with providing more seating for guests, the additional space will allow for an expanded menu—offering more room to cook and innovate.
“We’re looking to create new items made from scratch, looking at gluten-free and healthier options, [and] more kinds of empanadas.” In addition to the new menu items, 11 Chicks will purportedly serve beer and wine, something that they don’t offer at their current location.
Assuming their permits are approved, Schleede will not delay opening the new location. She says, laughing, “When the permit is ready, I am ready.” Relocating marks a positive change for the business, which undoubtedly will in turn maximize the customer experience.
