A stadium experience now goes far beyond just viewing the game. Fans want to enjoy craft beer, local food and live music. Tropicana Field makes strides every year to offer Rays fans something new. Their 2017 season looks to be filled with Burg comfort food.
From scratch bites at Tropicana
The popular Urban Restaurant Group (Comfort, Brew & BBQ, Creamery, Deli & Drafts) joins the Trop when the Rays regular season begins. The foodie behemoth made the announcement of their expansion on Facebook on February 26. They’ll be in good company when the Rays take the field. Tropicana already features the Burg staples Taco Bus, Ricky P’s and Pipo’s; not to mention local craft beer courtesy of 3 Daughters Brewing.

Local take on classic Southern dishes
One item Rays fans can expect to dig into is Urban’s take on the classic chicken and waffles dish — crispy chicken tenders in an Urban Creamery waffle cone. Other menu items include pulled pork, ribs and fried chicken. Urban Restaurant Group owner Andy Salyards, whose ambition seems inexhaustible, is excited to bring made-from-scratch dishes to the ballpark.

Salyards hopes to add meats from Urban Deli and Drafts to their Tropicana location later in the year, as well as scoops of handmade ice cream from the Creamery. The Rays have been in talks with Salyards and the Urban Restaurant Group for three months. The team has been stepping up local outreach this year and a major component of that is infusing resident’s favorite local bites with the Rays experience.
Craft cocktails potentially joining Urban’s lineup
If you’ve visited Urban Comfort before, then odds are you’ve indulged in one of their craft cocktails. Salyards said he hopes to bring those St. Pete-inspired cocktails to the Trop down the road. Potential plans also include special tastings of Urban Comfort’s beers for season ticket holders. You can follow Comfort, Brew & BBQ, Creamery and Deli & Drafts on Facebook for updates and menu previews.
