Laymen’s Food Review: The Burg Bar & Grill

Laymen’s Food Review: The Burg Bar & Grill

Tucked into a small space along Central Ave, The ‘Burg Bar & Grill could easily be missed when driving by, though it is definitely worth it to plan a trip. We decided to go back after months of being away and boy, did we miss this place. The bar features 15 beers on tap and over 55 bottled beers whose names appear on the large chalkboard you can’t help but notice as soon as you walk in. We couldn’t help ourselves, we picked a table and chowed down.

The Grateful Bread: As an avid lover of the Cuban sandwich I like to try them everywhere I go and if it’s on the menu I’m a total sucker, so it’s obvious what I chose at The ‘Burg Bar & Grill. Generally speaking, a Cuban sandwich is no frills and is accompanied by a side of beans and rice. What was interesting about this rendition was that they served yellow rice instead of white. It was so flavorful that I dipped every bite of my sandwich into it! An excellent Cuban sandwich must also come with good beans and rice. The sandwich didn’t have too much mayonnaise and mustard and was just perfect. Just by looking at what everyone else had ordered, it’s obvious that the quality of the food is important to this little ‘Burg joint.

DJ Fab: It’s been awhile since we’ve visited the The Burg and it’s nice to be reminded of how good their burgers are. I went for their 8 oz black n bleu burger on a whole wheat bun that came with fries. The burger itself was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Every bite was oozing with tasty juiciness. And the bleu cheese just took it to over-the-top decadence. Take note, better be hungry cause this burger is mighty big!

The Vegenator: I tried the Turkey Avocado Bacon Club, replacing the turkey and bacon with a veggie burger. When establishments use brand name veggie patties that are available in most grocery stores, the end result is often bland and no better than what can be made at home. Luckily, The Burg Bar & Grill knows its burgers. It was grilled the way it should be and topped with a massive heap of avocado, swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato and two toasted whole wheat buns. The Dijon came late, but by the looks of my empty plate, it wasn’t missed too much. The homemade natural chips were a nice side. They could have used a little more seasoning, but in the end, they were still healthier than store-bought chips. I’ll definitely be back to try their other veggie options!

The Burg Bar & Grill is open on Monday 11am-10pm, Tues-Thurs 11am-11pm, Friday and Saturday 11am-1am and they are now open until 11pm on Sunday. 1725 Central Ave.
