Hidden Gems of the Burg V: Stone Soup Café and Pub

stonesoupcafe

Stone Soup Café and Pub may be one of the best kept secrets in the Sunshine City. Tucked away at 4122 16th Street North, Stone Soup stacks one of the best damn sandwiches in the Burg. They also offer a length beer list that features everything from lagers, barley wine and hefe-weizen, to ciders and gluten-free brews.

Hearty sandwiches for a famished St. Pete

Want to enjoy Thanksgiving year-round? Indulge in Stone Soup‘s turkey cranberry wrap made with cream cheese, turkey, cranberry and baby spinach. The roast beef sandwich is a massive medley of strong flavor — top round roast beef, cheddar, onion, mushroom, sprouts, honey horseradish on an onion roll.

The pub portion of Stone Soup features an L-shaped bar with 18 seats and 8 high top tables. Sip on Fuller’s London Porter, savor Left Hand’s Milk Stout, keep it light with a Lost Coast Indica IPA or go for something a bit sweeter like Ace’s Pear Cider. The Blithering Idiot Barley Wine is strong contender for our favorite drink at the bar.

Sky high sammies bountiful brews

Stone Soup’s café features checkerboard linoleum floors and white linen tables. If you’re less inclined towards a spirited beverage, we suggest you sip on their raspberry tea with a hint of honey. Want something hearty and affordable? Try Kristy’s Special — an expert mix of cream cheese, sprouts, cucumber and onion on toasted pumpernickel bread for just $5.95.

The Super Cheese sammy stacks provolone on swiss on cheddar with sprouts, tomato, parmsan, spinach and honey mustard on a wheat roll. Stone Soup’s menu is also equipped with the classics like a sky high roast beef sandwich and a corned beef Reuben.
