Forthcoming EDGE District BBQ Joint Offers First Taste at Datz

When Dr. BBQ first announced he’d be opening a concept in the EDGE District, the city lit up with excitement. Ray Lampe, a.k.a. Dr. BBQ, and Suzanne and Roger Perry, co-owners of Datz, are bringing their brand of artisanal BBQ to the EDGE District.

Get ready for no BS BBQ

The restaurant will open in the 7,315 square foot space at 1101 1st Avenue South. Expect craftsman, no bullshit recipes that’ll wow your taste buds. Lampe has a slew of accolades that underscore his culinary prowess.

First taste of restaurant happening across the bridge in Tampa

From June 15-25, Dr. BBQ will be testing out his new recipes at Datz (2616 South MacDill Avenue, Tampa) during Creative Loafing’s Restaurant week. Visitors will be able to enjoy pork rind nachos, chicken and mac n’ cheese waffles, and a chocolate corn bread stack.

Follow the restaurant on its website, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for updates as it inches closer to an official opening.
