Burg Bits: Birthday Bashes & Bikes To Go

Burg Bits: Birthday Bashes & Bikes To Go

Weekend of Birthdays in the Burg

The 39th Annual Mainsail Festival returns to Vinoy Park this weekend. The festival began in 1976 and was originally regarded as the "Saint Petersburg Arts and Colonial Crafts Festival." That one took a few too many breaths and was changed a year later to "Mainsail" to convey the excitement and significance surrounding the event and to better frame its setting in the waterfront park. The festival takes place Saturday, April 19, from 9am-6pm and Sunday, April 20, 10am-6pm and is FREE and open to the public. Vinoy Park 701 Bayshore Drive.

Hideaway Cafe’s 5 Years anniversary is this Saturday, April 19 and the purveyors of Funk, Blues, Folk and everything in between are putting on an all day event to celebrate! If those walls could talk they’d definitely be talking with a scotch rasp and humming an electric bass line. You don’t need to sell your soul at the cross roads to get imbued with the spectacle of incendiary skill, Hideaway Cafe is producing live and local music from 12-10pm. Hideaway Cafe 1756 Central Ave.

The Witches BBQ Den is turning 1 on Thursday, April 17! They grow up so fast. To celebrate the Witches Den is serving $1 smoked chicken slider topped with a Cigar City Brewing jai alai infused KC BBQ Sauce. From 5-10pm at The Ale and The Witch 111 2nd Ave NE.

Take your Bike to go
Whether your commuter trying to get to work or a student working toward that first down payment on a Camry, having a bike you can break down and fold to the size of a 2-serving pie is beyond clutch. The soon to open 2 Fold Bike shop will provide the ever conscious Burg population with bicycles that recede into themselves and can fit snuggly in a backpack. You may remember owner Michael Davis from his old shop 66 Fixed. Two Fold Bike Shop will open its doors on Friday, April 18 to give Burgers and media alike a sneak peak at their store before their official opening happening later in the month. Two Fold Bike Shop 657 Central Ave.
